Celebrating International Polar Bear Day

As a northern adventure company that is responsible for bringing thousands of guests to Churchill each year, we think about polar bears all year round: we participate in studies that further polar bear research and conservation; we adapt our business practices to operate in a sustainable manner; we combine travel and education in a way that ensures our guests go home with a deeper understanding of the wildlife and landscapes of the north; and we help to share polar bears with the world through Google Streetview and the Polar Bear Cam. 

International Polar Bear Day isn't much different for us - we're still thinking about polar bears - but it is a day that reminds us that even as individuals we can commit to actions that will make a positive impact in the effort to create a sustainable earth. And it gives us a chance to share with you some ideas for how you can make small changes that can create positive results. 

So, how can you celebrate International Polar Bear Day this February 27th?

You can help out by doing your part to reduce your carbon footprint:

• Join Polar Bears International's Thermostat Challenge - turn down the heat and bundle up to lower carbon emissions
• Sign the Fair Price for Carbon petition asking the White House to help secure a future for renewable energy
• Fight climate change at home by making small changes to live more environmentally-friendly
• Learn how small changes in how you heat and cool your home or reducing your home energy consumption can save power and help save the planet.
• Share your ideas on our Facebook page to help others fight climate change at home
